The exploitation of mineral water for medicinal purposes at the location of Palanacki Kiseljak in Smederevska Palanka, Serbia, has been going on for several centuries. The first written records about it date from 1719. The exploitation of thermo-mineral water (52-55 deg C) from the depth of 997 m started in 1972. In the first part of this paper we are dealing with historical development of the spa of Palanacki Kiseljak. The second part of this paper is dealing with the period of recession (its decline) since 1992 till today including the survey of the present state of the spa park, sanatorium buildings, mineral and thermo-mineral water springs, accommodation capacity and other accessories. In the third part of the paper we offer, through analyzing the potentials of the Palanacki Kiseljak spa, the strategic framework and guidelines for the advancement and development of the spa.
