Within the national context the spas are usually presented as an extraordinary potential for development of tourism, as product of populist marketing and day-to-day politics. However, spa tourism imlies a set of pre-conditions, debated with reluctance. The phenomena of thermal waters and uncontaminated air are obviously not only Serbian specificities.An adequate valorization of natural and generated potentials therefore appears as the most relavent issue and will be treated as such in this paper.
