The effect of parity, average daily weight gains, percentage of lean meat (LM%) and backfat thickness (BT) on the farrowing interval (FI) was evaluated in 8,285 of Czech Large White (CLW) sows and in 2,850 Czech Landrace (CL) sows. The highest farrowing interval (174 days) was found out in sows with the lowest weight gains (less than 470 g/day). FI slightly decreased with increasing growth intensity. Significant differences in FI were observed between the groups with LM% of 54.1-55.9% and 58.0-59.9% in CLW sows. In CL animals, FI decreased in dependence on the LM% with the exception of the group with the lowest LM% (less than 54%). FI increased slightly with increasing BT in both breeds, excepting the group of CLW sows with BT values inferior to 8 mm and unusually high FI (199 days). In both breeds, FI decreased with increasing parity number.
