Role of important zoonoses from the point of view of food-safety

The authors analyse data of 11 years (1993-2003) on food-borne zoonoses diagnosed in humans. From the zoonoses caused by bacteria, salmonellosis occured the most frequently. The most cases were diagnosed in 1996 (28 046). Since then the number of cases continuously decreased to one fourth (6571).
