An analysis of play by children and parents in a natural river park and the proposition about the park design based on the analysis

The present study was earned out to analyze ethologically the play behaviors in"Mizube no gakkou "(a natural river park) by children and parents, and to clarify the importance and problems of "Mizube no gakkou" Addition to the investigation of play behaviors m "Mizube no gakkou". ones in an artificial river park was Investigated for the comparison Followings were found out (1)Kinds of the play behaviors in"Mizube no gakkou" are more than ones in the artificial river park. (2)The behaviors in boys, girls, fathers, and mothers show clear sexual differences that can be interpreted as evolutional adaptations to the humans natural life style of hunting and gathering. Some proposals about the design of "Mizube no gakkou" were presented based on the behavioral characteristics of children and parents, and supplementary data of quality of river water, aquatic animals, and riverside plants.
