As the method of appropriate management of grazing cattle in forest, we investigate the effect of transferring watering place on the home range of grazing cattle in forest. GPS collars were attached two Japanese Black cows and positional records with fifteen minutes interval were collected from April 26 to July 13,2004. In May 27, watering place was transferred. Home range of each cow was estimated by fixed kernel method using GPS records. In addition, vegetation researches on sixty one places in the grazing area were conducted at start of grazing, transferring watering place and end of grazing time, The relationship between herbage mass of Silvergrass (Miscanthus sinensis Anderss) and distribution frequency of grazing cow was investigated. Area on nighttime (18:00-06:00) home range was significantly (P<0.01) more narrow than that of daytime (06:00-18:00), and home range area on start of grazing time was significantly (P<0.05) more narrow than that of other terms. Home, range of grazing cow was changed by transferring watering place. From these results, it is suggested that transferring watering place induced grazing cow to new home range. even if small and high rainfall grazing area.
