We researched on the actual conditions of the program at natural field, especially on the using forest "satoyama" (woods in suburbs) of social welfare institutions for mentally handicapped persons in Tokyo. And we investigated the usefulness and potential of satoyama-program as a result for working therapy of upkeep of satoyama-forest. We found good cases, those are not solved but in natural field- program. Nowadays almost institutions are practicing the program at natural field but only a few adopting the satoyama-program. Therefore, hereafter it will be expected, that a number of institutions are going to increase, those practice the program on satoyama-forest. At working outside like forest they confront more various conditions like a steep slope and so on. They are stimulated more than in natural field-program (relatively flat field or gardens). It received recognition, that the mentally handicapped persons accepted good effects through satoyama-program. Accordingly, it is emerging, that the working therapy is effective for themselves and concurrently helping to conservation and stabilizing of woods in suburbs.
