Localization of Quantitative Trait Loci for Number of Nodes and Branches in Soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr.]

Number of nodes and branches are yield component characters whose expression are highly related with many other traits. In this study, a population derived from the cross of 'Keunolkong' and 'Shinpaldalkong' was evaluated with SSR markers to identify QTLs related to number of nodes and branches on the main stem. Five QTLs associated with the number of nodes were identified and 50.4% of the total phenotypic variation were explained by these QTLs. The marker of satt243 on linkage group (LG) O explained 21.3% of the phenotypic variation of the number of nodes.
