[The microbiological quality of sewage sludge compost in environmental protection aspect]

In 22 August 2002 the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Latvia acknowledged Regulations No.365 "On use, monitoring and control of sewage sludge and its compost". In Latvia sewage biological treatment plants have been produced and compiled big amount of sewage sludge extracted from water - approximately 20 thousand tonne of dry matter content in year. The aim of the research is to carry out microbiological quality evaluation of sewage sludge according EU standards and in national level, and develop Latvian national standard on determination of pathogenic bacteria Salmonella spp.
