Early appearance and treatment of goat warbles in Irsind, Kandh and Khandarea of Rakhi Munh, Dera Ghazi Khan, Pakistan

Prevalence of goat warbles (Przhevalskiana silenus Brauer) was carried out oneighteen flocks (n=281) in three villages at Rakhi Munh, Dera Ghazi Khan. Study wasconducted during 2nd week of August, 1999-2000. The nodules of goat warbleslarvae were palpated on the back of infected animals through hand palpationmethod. The occurrence of infected animals through hand palpation method. Theoccurrence of goat warbles at Irsind, Kandh and Khand was 65%, 36% and 30%respectively. The objective of this study was to find out the early date ofappearance of goat warbles and to control goat warbles Przhevalskiana silenusBrauer at L2 stage in the body of animal with the use of ivermectin. The ivermectinat dose rate of 200 mug/kg was 100% effective against L2 and L3 stages of goatwarbles. The occurrence of goat warbles as early as 2nd week of August wasrecorded for the first time in Pakistan.
