Studies on the efficacy of five different insecticides against rice stemborers (Scirpophaga incertulas, Scirpophaga innotata) were conducted in a fieldtrial on rice variety IR6, during 2000 in D.I. Khan. The results showed that allinsecticides gave significantly better control of rice stem borers than theuntreated check. Among the insecticides Regent-300 EC at 29.64 ml/ha, Padan 4Gat 891.20 g/ha was found to be the most effective in reducing rice stem borersinfestation, followed by Furadan 3G at 592.8 g/ha, Thiodan 35 EC at 800 g/haand Sadan at 891.20 g/ha respectively. The highest yield (tons/ha) was obtainedfrom Regent-300EC treated plots, followed by Padan 4G, Furadan 3G,Thiodan 35EC and Sadan 4G as compared to un-treated check plots.
