Lake Starodworskie (6.99 ha, max. depth 23.3 m) in Olsztyn (Poland) was subjected to restoration by the phosphates inactivation method. The treatment was conducted twice (1994 and 1995) with hydrolysed aluminium sulphate as coagulant. Changes in the surface waters were observed. The primary production has been fairly limited which was displayed by the reduced chlorophyll a concentrations, the min. values were measured one year after the coagulant's second dose application: 0.70-4.01 mg/cubic m. Transparency of the water has also improved, maximally down to 4 m. The statistical dependence between the Sacchi's disc visibility and the chlorophyll a content was very high during the summer stagnation(r=0.831). Another important statistical dependence was determined for the phosphorus content in the surface waters during the spring turnover and the summer blooms influencing the visibility (r=0.672)
