The research aimed at determining the influence of different modes of tillage on yielding and selected indices of the canopy architecture (LAI, MTA) of rye grown in monoculture. The yield of rye grain was significantly influenced by the way of straw management as well as weather conditions, particularly in the second year of the experiment. Periodical deficits of precipitation during the vegetation evidently contributed to decrease in the yield. The leaf area index was significantly differentiated by the modes of tillage, ways of straw management and respective years
