The reseach works being carried out in this area deal with - among the others - the basic and presowing soil tillage, sowing, planting and cultivation of the crops, fertilization and plant protection, harvesting and post harvest processing of the crops. From among the research problems presented and discussed in this issue the following ought to be mentioned, destructive impact of the tractors and agricultural machines on the soil, pollution of the soil with some toxic compounds derived from used mineral fertilizers and plant protection chemicals, mulching of the soil provided for potato cultivation with green manures what showed positive influence of such a treatment on quality and yielding of the potatoes, methods to selecting the doses of plant protection chemicals most effective in the apple scrab control
