Evaluation of the rank of sow family groups in a regional subpopulation PL

Reproduction performance of 8 gilt families in the breeding stock PL pedigree in Pukarzow (Poland) was evaluated. The evaluation included 175 gilts and 863 litters after them. Considering the arrangement of reproductive performance traits of the gilts in every family, differentiation of genetic potential (P less or equal 01) and the best results were obtained in the Forma and Laga families. It was proven that gilts farrowed at the age of 340 days. Farrow frequency increased (over 2.15) as the period between the litters ranged from 164 to 169 days. The number of piglets reared in a litter up to 21st day for a particular gilt family was 9.2 and the mean body weight of litter was at 57.4 kg
