Land use and land conflict at demacration of national park and park of Saraburi province

Objectives of this research were to determine the existing land use, and land use conflict in the targeted area around Khao Sam Lan National Park, Changwat Saraburi as a case study. However, Jet Sow Noi Park was insufficient data to study, meanwhile, as well as to establish the demarcation, in order to decrease the deforestation rate in the national park. Moreover, the economical and endanger forest tree species were enumerated, as well as the relationship between socio-economic factors and land use of the prople living around the national park were also investigated. The research found that the land use pattern in the study area including rice and various agronomy field, and cementery area. The geography of Khao Sam Lan National Park is mainly limestone mountainous area and with very steep slope. Shifting cultivation use to practised before 1981 caused unachievement of the natural regeneration, this due to, forest fire clid a lot of damarase to seedlings, saplings and also caused the decreasing in the population to endanger tree species and some medicinal plants species were become scarce. Aerial photographs from 1983 showed that the main landuses outside the National Park boundary were rice production and agronomy. The northern area of Khao Sam Lan National Park was cemetery, initially it was 1.23 square kilometers in sizes, however by 1994 it had increased by 1.44 square kilometers in the south and 1.34 square kilometers in the north. Therefore, land conflict cause by people need land for their production, cemetery and land use for industries. The socio-economic factors affecting land use pattern the study area were educational level of the household head, household income and size of land holding, and sith the significance level of 0.05.
