The data on history of container-grown plants as well as information on current state of the problem are presented. The following issues of keeping plants in a limited space are reviewed: substrates, containers, feeding and watering. Studying of influence of acidity of substratum on growth of seedlings in containers and sand in different quantities has shown, that annual apple-trees grew better in containers with more sour nutritious mix irrespective of a stock and variety (PH in KC1 4,5-5,5). Addition of sand in a nutritious mix in quantity of 10 % and 20 % on volume detained growth of apple-trees seedlings. Substrate acidity and sand content at stone fruit crops planting has not influenced negatively on seedlings growth. Decrease in stone fruit crops growth took place in variants with increase in a doze of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium in 2 times. At the moment experiences on use of a substratum Florabel-5 made on the basis of peat, enriched by nutritious elements (NPK), for container culture fruit has being conducted. The Belarus scientists have been established, that for an apple-tree an optimum substratum is top peat with PH (4,5-5,5) with content N100P60K170 on 100 g of absolutely dry substance, for stone fruit crops with PH (5,5-6,5) and N200P60K170 mg on 100 g accordingly
