The taxonomic study of natural enemies, associated to pests in different crops and agroecosystems, constitutes one the most important objectives for undertaking future biological control programs. As part of the survey carried out in the country for the detection of pink mealybug of the hibiscus Maconelicoccus hirsutus (Green), a species of the genus Dysmicoccus present in coffee and banana infested by Hambletonia pseudococcina Compere (Hymenoptera: Encyrtidae) was detected in Santiago de Cuba province (East) on July 2003. Hambletonia pseudococcina Compere is a parasitoid of the pineapple mealybug Dysmicoccus brevipes (Cockerell), which is distributed in countries like: Mexico, United States (Florida), Brazil, Venezuela, Colombia, Argentina, Puerto Rico, Jamaica and Taiwan. As a result of this study, the presence of the genus Hambletonia Compere and its representative species H. pseudococcina are reported for the first time in Cuba.
