Modern molecular methods provide novel means in the diagnostics and control of bovine viral diarrhoea (BVD). Classical polymerase chain reaction (PCR) has been used for the detection of the virus for more than ten years. The recently developed Real-Time PCR techniques provide faster and more accurate diagnostics, and lead to the development of automated systems.
