Evaluation of advance and local wheat lines to russian wheat aphid and wheat stem saw fly pests in dryland condition
2004
Bahrami, Nozar | Aghaee, Mostafa
In order to investigate the response of local and advanced bread wheat genotypes to sawfly and Russian aphid invasion and the relationship between plant characteristics and resistance to these pest 600 genotypes were studied for two successive years in Sararood station, Kermanshah , Iran. Out of these genotypes, 17 were selected as resistant , partially resistant and susceptible to these pests( 4 resistant to sawfly, 2 resistant to RAW and 1 were resistant to both) . The traits such as stem diameter, stem wall thickness, number of node, distance between nodes, number of infected spike, infection percentage, intact and infected plant kernel weight, plant height were recorded for all genotypes. In second year the selected resistant genotypes were planted as randomized complete block design (RCBD) for more confirmation. Correlation between sawfly infection percentage and plant height were significantly positive. Negative significant correlation was detected between stem wall thickness and sawfly infection percentage. Correlation between Russian aphid infection and plant height were significantly negative.
