Determination of row spacing and density for soybeans ( Cv. Semmes) in Khuzestan

This experiment was conducted in 1999 and 2000 to evaluate the effects of plant density on soybean ( cv. Semmes ) yield in Khuzestan , as a randomized complet block design with stripe plot arrangement of treatments with four replication. Row spacing was vertical factor including row spacing of 55 , 65 , and 37.5 cm. (Two plant rows on 75 cm. spaced rows ) and plant density as horizental factor 15 , 20 . 25 and 30 plants / m2 respectively. There were not significant different among treatments for soybean grain , 1000 seed weight , number of secandary branches , height of plant and height of first pod from the soil surface . For adjusting rail of combin machin with row spacing and increasing soybean grain ( cv. Semmes ) the row spacing 37.5 cm. (Two plant rows on 75 cm. spaced rows ) and plant population of 250000 plant / ha is recommended .
