Correlation evaluation of canopy temperaturedepression with grain yield and its components in spring wheat genotypes underterminal heat stress
2004
Lotf Ali Ayeneh, Gholam Abass
This study examined correlation of canopy temperature depression (CTD) below air temperature and flag leaf chlorophyll content (CHL-C.) with grain yield and its components of spring wheat varieties to terminal heat stress at two sowing dates (20 Nov. and 20 Jan.) under Ahwaz climatic condition. CTD and (CHL_C.) measured at two growth stages (1- anthesis, 2- milk stages) with hand held infra-red thermometer (IRT) and chlorophyll-meter respectively. Morphological traits grain yield and its components were also measured. Results indicted that CTD was 7.1-10.5 ؛C for spring wheat varieties in Ahwaz climatic condition, and had also positive significant correlation with grain yield, biomass and seed No.per m². Flag leaf chlorophyll content measured at milk stage had positive significant correlation with grain yield. It is concluded that CTD and CHL.-C. should be further investigated as potential indirect selection criteria for grain yield under Ahwaz climatic condition and the same conditions.
