Effect of irrigation water and seed retes on the seed yield of alfalfa

In order to determin the effect of irrigation water and seed retes on the seed yield of alfalfa (var.Hamedani) an expriment was carried out for Four years ( 1999-2002) in split - plot design with three replication in Chartakhteh Research Station in Shahrekord . three intervales of irrigation water (irrigation at 50 % - 70%- 90% use of avialable water) were considered as main plots and foure seed rates ( 5-10-15-20 kg/ha ) were considered as subplots. the resuts showed that: Effect of irrigation water was significant at 1% level and highest seed yield was obtained in irrigation at 50% use of avialable water with mean yield of 419.8 kg/ha. Effect of seed rates was significant at 1% level and maximum seed yield was obtained From 5 kg/ha seed rates with mean yield of 369.1 kg/ha. Effect of year was significant at 1% level and highest seed yield was obtaincd in 2000 with mean yield of 553.5 kg/ha. there was significant corrolation of seed yield and number of pod/head, seed /pod and 1000 seed weight.
