The pistachio twig borer moth, Kermania pistaciella Amsel (Lep.: Tineidae) is one of the most important pests of pistachio trees (Pistacia vera L.) in Iran. This study was carried out for obtaining information on population fluctuation of this pest and its parasitoid in natural conditions. This study was conducted in three pistachio plantation areasNaseriae, Kerman station and saiid Abad. At each above experimental orchard 60, 25 and 24 pistachio trees were selected respectively. These trees were checked in early and late of April in 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2003. The number of pupal coccon, number of adult pest emergence hole and number of parasitoid adult emerged were recorded. 25 cluster of each tentative trees were harvested at harvesting time and number of infested cluster were recorded. The results showed no significant difference between pest population base on number of adults emerged in first and fifth year in all three tentative areas. In addition, there were no significant difference number of infested clusters during first and fifth year in Naseriae and saiid abad but percentage of infested clusters increased in fifth year in Kerman station. Parasitoid population increased in Naseriae and Saiid Abad during the experiment, in general. Number of emergence parasitoid showed significant difference between first and fifth year, also in fifth year the number of emerged parasitoids were more than the first year. Parasitoid population was constant in Kerman station in the test period. In conclusion, under no spraying condition the parasitoid population will be increased, it is proposed that the population dynamic of this pest would be decreased under the economic level. Definitely, more investigation are needed to clarify the relationship between the pest and its natural enemies in pistachio orchards.
