In orther to study the efficiency of Basamid 10G,a fumigant nematicide, for disinfestations of soil, an experiment was conducted at Nashtaroud Research Station . In this experiment, nematicide doses (20, 40, and 60 g/ m2 ) were selected as factor one and the soil depths (30,40 and50 cm ) as factor two and each treamentwas replicated three times. Efficiency of Basamid 10G was compared @ 50 g/m2 of soil. Nematicides were applied to the moist soil and covered with polyethelen sheet for one week Sampling and extraction of nematodes were carried out before and at termination of experiment and number of root knot and spiral nematodes were estimated The results revealed that Methyl Bromide caused significant reduction of nematodes as compared to other treatments . However, it is conculuded that Basamid at different concenteration and the concenteration of Methyl Bromide used had similar effects on Meloidogyne spp. and were placed in same group , but the max . reduction in population of Helicotylenchus spp. was observed at MethyleBromide treated soil @ 50 g/m2 Whereas treated soil with basamid @ 49 and60 g/m2 were placed at group (ab) .
