[Role of viruses in enteropathies in modern rabbit husbandry]

anglais. In the group of diseases occurring in the Italian rabbit industry, the so-called multifactorial conditioned diseases are the most important. The multifactorial enteropathy is the main of these technopaties, especially in relation to the productive and economic impacts caused by it. Many infectious agents are often involved at the same time, or they follow each other and, consequently, the real pathogenic role of some of them is still uncertain. By contrast, it is well known that many conditioning factors are involved in this syndrome by promoting the overgrowing of primary or potential pathogenic agents. The pathogenic role and importance of viruses as primary aetiological agents of rabbit enteritis are here discussed by reviewing the available literature and also by taking into account the results obtained from personal investigations, performed in the last two decades with the purpose to estimate the prevalence of different viruses, identified by negative contrast electron microscopy, on samples collected from rabbits showing either a generic enteropathy or lesions referable to mucoid enteropathy-caecal impaction (rabbit epizootic naturopathy, ERE). This has been performed in order to recognise the main features and pathogenic capacities of different viral agents and to try to attribute them an etiological role in enteric syndromes in relation with the observed pathologic lesions

Le sindromi enteriche multifattoriali del coniglio e, in particolare, la gastroenterite post-svezzamento degli animali all'ingrasso rivestono una grande importanza nell'allevamento del coniglio da carne per il loro elevato impatto economico. Tra i vari agenti patogeni coinvolti nell'eziologia della sindrome enterica multifattoriale, i virus rivestono un ruolo ancora non del tutto chiaro e definito, anche se è accertato che molti di essi possono agire da opportunisti, predisponendo infezioni batteriche e parassitarie secondarie. Gli AA ricordano e descrivono le principali caratteristiche dei virus isolati e identificati nel coniglio, anche tenendo conto dei risultati di indagini e osservazioni originali, realizzate nel corso degli ultimi vent'anni, condotte allo scopo di valutare la prevalenza dei differenti virus, identificati al microscopio elettronico in colorazione negativa, in conigli affetti da un generico quadro di enterite o lesioni riferibili a enteropatia mucoide con impaccamento ciecale o sindrome enteropatica enzootica del coniglio (ERE) e correlando la presenza dei virus con i sintomi e le lesioni osservate
