Growth and yield response of abaca to the application of Genica dry organic fertilizer

Efficacy test was carried out to evaluate and generate information on the growth and development and yield of abaca applied with 1/2 kilo per hill Genica dry organic fertilizer. This study was arranged in Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) replicated four times. It was established in the abaca area of the Agusan Plantation Inc. (API), Manat, Trento, Agusan del Sur. This was conducted from February 2002 to July 2003. Results showed that growth and yield of abaca was significantly affected by the application of different rates of inorganic fertilizer and Genica dry organic fertilizer and its combinations. Treatment 5 (Genica dry organic fertilizer alone) significantly surpassed the control (T1) and 1/2 recommended rate (1/2 RR) inorganic fertilizer treatments (Treatment 3) and equaled treatment 4 (1/2 RR and Genica) in growth and yield of abaca. Mixing Genica dry organic fertilizer with full and 1/2 recommended rate inorganic fertilizer (T6 and T4) would also mean better growth and yield of abaca. Fiber recovery of abaca was not significantly affected by the different rates of inorganic fertilizer and Genica dry organic fertilizer and its combinations.
