The purpose of the study was to analyse the dependences between the composition, physical and chemical properties of cows' colostrum and class G immunoglobulins in blood serum of calves. The effects of betalactoglobulin and kappa casein genotypes, inhibitory activity of trypsin, and the number of somatic cells on physical, chemical and biological properties of colostrum and absorption of immunoglobulins in calves were studied and described. The investigations were carried out in 1998-2002 on a herd of Black-and-White cattle kept in a traditional housing and feeding system. The average milk yield per cow was ca 7 000 kg. The analyses were performed on colostrum (from 566 cows) and blood serum of their calves
