Studied in this paper are butgets and environmental effects that could be achieved through exploitation of biogas facility which is planned on the pig farm in Veliki Radinci, Serbia. Based on the present number of pigs and cattle on the farm (a total of 3,000 units), annual biogas production potentials were calculated. In addition to biogas production from animal waste water, corn silage cosubstrate from 300 ha was also taken into consideration. Using the data on potential biogas production from substrate and cosubstrate analysis was made to determine the possible production of electricity and thermal energy. It was established that the calculated production of electrical and thermal energy could provide for total energy independence. Furthermore, it could be possible to prevent emission of substantial quantities of greenhouse gases, i.e. 2,361 t/a of carbon-dioxide and 815 t/a of methane.
