The ten winter wheat varieties were tested as seedlings in greenhouse (20 deg C) with aim to estimate values of the resistance characters to Puccinia triticina. The infection was applied on seven to ten old first leaves. In one of the according to treatment simultaneous trials the second leaf was removed two days after incubation in order to stop the plant senescence process. The consequences of the older first leaves inoculation were less five to fifteen symptoms on 100 square mm area in the middle. The reaction type of the variety Slavia become high when second leaves removed after inoculation. The decrease of the infection efficiency followed with high reaction type of the variety Sonalika with relatively quick appearance and elongated second leaf was the highest. The varietis Renesansa and Nizija reacted very low. The latency period was not prolonged related to treatments. The variety Centurk expressed the difference of half day in resistance direction. So, the variations in the maximal and medium infection severities in field during 2004 and 2005 were according to pseudo resistance due to general stress reaction. The completely resistant Purdue 5392 according to stable low infection efficiency and reaction type and Centurk with prolonged latency period were to Puccinia triticina resistant exceptions.
