High yields of good-quality cabbage can be attained only on fertile and structured soils with favourable chemical properties. With the aim of expanding cabbage cultivation to acid soils, during liming, these trials were set up for determination of the liming effect on changes in the contents of available forms of some macro and micro elements in the soil which are very important in the process of minimal nutrition of this vagetable species. The trials were set up in seven variants (CaO, Njival Ca, Njival Ca+Mg, separately or in combination with manure), during two cabbage growing seasons. The results obtained showed that the contents of macro elements investigated (P, Ca, Mg) increased in all variants where liming was carried out (phosphorus 43-105%, calcium 18-42%, magnesium 26-71%), whereas the Fe and Mn contents decreased (iron 14-19%, manganese 19-31%), depending on the lime fertilizer used and on whether humification was applied simultaneously with liming.
