The effect of different growth regulators, genotypes and explants on in vitro growth and plant regeneration of tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.) was studied. Six explant types from 13 genotypes of tomato were derived from aseptically grown plants cultured on MS medium. The frequency of regeneration, number of shoot primordia and number of shoots with 1 or more fully developed leaves were evaluated after 6 weeks of culture. The best regeneration ability was observed in genotype Premium, Robura, Hana and UC 82, and on hypocotyl and cotyledon explants. The most effective medium was MS supplemented with 1 mg/L ZEA + 0.1 mg/L IAA.
