Natural effect of pollen on two species of bacteria

24 samples of pollen were inspected for their natural effect on two species of bacteria: Salmonella abaetetuba, ATCC 35640 and Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 6538-(Produced by MicroBiologics USA). The examined pollen showed to have a natural activity through inhibition zone (0.5-0.9) and the number of samples (23), which produced the inhibition of Salmonella species growth. As for Staphylococcus, the antibacterial effect of pollen was weaker with the zone of inhibition (0.1-0.5), and the less number of samples (19) compared to the number of samples that had an effect on Salmonella (23).
