The aim of the experiment was to find out the influence of probiotic preparation on lipid metabolism of Isa brown laying hens. The effect of probiotic was observed during laying cycle in 3 periods of laying. Animals were divided into two groups - control (C) and experimental (E). The probiotic premix with 5.109 CFU (colonies forming units) of Enterococcus faecium M-74 in 1 g of premix to the feed mixture in amount of 0.5 g to 1 kg was added. The feed mixture then contained 2.5.109 CFU in 1 kg of the mixture. The experiment confirmed that the probiotic had positive influence on intensity of laying of hens (91.67% in E resp. 84.92% in C) but significantly negative effect on weight of eggs (61.98 g in E resp. 63.36 g in C). The preparation had also positive influence on the yolk cholesterol ratio. It was significantly decreased in experimental group (1.31-1.35%) as compared with control group (1.37-1.46%). There were also decreases in content of plasma cholesterol (2.63-3.80 mmol/l in E resp. 3.17-3.96 mmol/l in C) and total lipids (9.80-10.71 g/l in E resp. 10.20-11.05 g/l in C). No significant differences were found between the control and experimental groups in the content of triglycerids.
