Results showed that 1) The category of side effects on the natural enemies fipronil was harmless-slightly harmful to the mired bug, Cyrtorhinus lividipennis Reuter, harmless to spiders and harmless-moderately harmful to the egg parasite of the brown planthopper (Oligosita sp.), imidacloprid was slightly hamful-moderately harmful to C. lividipennis, harmless to spiders and slightly harmful to Oligosita sp. 2) The impact on arthropods community structure numbers of insect pests in fipronil plot was found higher than non sprayed plot, imidacloprid, the proportion of arthropod guild in sprayed and non sprayed plots was almost the same. 3) The impact on species diversity of insects, species diversity index in fipronil and imidacloprid plots was less than non sprayed plots 7.3-17.6 percent and 7.2-9.3 percent respectively. Moreover, it was found that the used rate of fipronil could not control the brown planthopper, Nilaparvata lugen Stal, but imidacloprid still showed good result.
