The evaluation of the genetic diversity of flax (Linum usitatissimum L.) cultivars collection by means of application of molecular RAPD markers was realized in the conditions of the Republic of Belarus for the creation of varieties competitive with the foreign analogs and adapted to Belarus conditions. The molecular genetic analysis realized by the RAPD method made it possible to obtain the objective data on genetic relations between flax cultivars. As a result of realized analysis of 12 genotypes of flax with the help of 30 effective random primers there were obtained 280 loci randomly distributed over genome and there were revealed 146 common for all genotypes fragments of amplification as well as 134 polymorphic fragments. RAPD analysis made it possible to detect the changeability in the majority of loci of different parts of genome and obtain the objective evidence about the genetic relations between flax varieties. Variability in RAPD - loci which was revealed in linseed cultivars of different origin was comparatively high for a self-pollinating crop and a share of fixed recessive loci was moderately low. Research results showed that studied flax cultivars as well as wild relatives and primitive accessions (landraces) could be used as a source of new genes in flax varieties selection both for oil and fiber production
