The aim of this article was to evaluate different characteristics of belt kilns used for hop drying in the Czech Republic and to optimize the process of drying. Our results show that to obtain a quality end product we can optimize the drying process by either accelerating the belts or by eliminating the last belt and slowing down the preceding ones.
