The objective of this work was to determine the influence of the meat proportion in carcasses and sex on some quantitative traits in hybrid pigs. Altogether, 58 barrows and 59 gilts of the following genotypes were included into the experiment: (Czech Large White x Pietrain) x (Czech Large White x Czech Landrace), (Hampshire x Pietrain) x (Czech Large White x Czech Landrace), (Duroc x Pietrain) x (Czech Large White x Czech Landrace), and the hybrid PIC x (Czech Large White x Czech Landrace). The pigs were divided according to the lean meat proportion into 3 groups as follows: 1) 60.0% and more; 2) 55.0-59.9%; 3) 50.0-54.9% of lean meat. Weights and proportions of different meat cuts from the right carcass half were evaluated and compared. The best results were obtained in animals from the first group as follows (weight and proportion, repsectively): meat: 23.9 kg, 54.98%; ham: 10.2 kg, 23.46%, loin: 6.1 kg, 14.06%; shoulders: 4.6 kg, 10.72%; neck: 2.9 kg, 6.72%; head, hocks and trotters: 5.2 kg, 12.01%. The area of MLLT was 5,296 square mm. The highest proportions of fat were measured in the second group. In most traits, higher values were observed in gilts than in barrows. The sex influenced significantly especially the lean meat weight and content.
