Genetic study of tomato yield and yield components

The purpose of this research was to identify the genetic variation and covariation among yield and yield components of tomato grown at lowland. Research used Randomized Complete Block Design with 15 genotypes tomato (selectioned from experiment) and four blocks. Eight genotypes collected from AVRDC (CL143-0-10-3-0-1-10, CL5915-93D4-1-0-3, CL5915-93D4-1-0-C-1, CL5915-93D4-1-0-0-1, CL5915-223D4-2-1-0, CL475-BC1F2-265-9-0, CL474-BC1F2-265-90, CLN 65-349- D5-2-0, Balitsa (LV2471, Berlian, Mutiara, Ratna, Intan) and two local varieties (Lokal Pontianak dan Lokal Singkawang). The character observed were (1) day to flowering (dap) per plot after plant flower 80 percent, (2) number of fruit per plant until fifth harvest, (3) fruit set ( percent) per plot, (4) fruit diameter from 10 fruits per plot, (5) weight of fruit (g) per fruit, and (6) weight of total marketable fruits until fifth harvest. The result of this research were heritability of day to flowering, fruit diameter, number of fruits per plant, and weight of total marketable fruits until fifth harvest were high, but heritability of fruit set and weight of fruit per plant were low. Coefficient corelation of genetic and phenotypic of all characters were significant to yield. All of yield components were significant to tomatoes yield.
