Evaluation of durum wheat varieties and breeding lines in national yield trial

The present study was undertaken to identify and select desirable durum wheat genotypes under rainfed condition. Total of 199 lines were compared with local check( s). The experiments included NPDWYT, DWYT– A, DWYT– B, with 123, 78, and 17 genotypes, respectively. The entries were compared with the local checks, Zardak (durum wheat check) and Sardari (bread wheat check). Selection was mainly based on the field performance and appearance. Out of the 199 genotypes, 96 genotypes were selected for the next season to be evaluated more precisely.
