Major successes due to breeding have been achieved, in the selection for drought escape. The aim of present study was to find early maturity chickpea lines which can escape terminal drought stress. The experiment material comprised 40 kabuli chickpea lines with susceptible check ( ILC 3279) in RCBD design with two replications at research stations of Kermanshah, Shirvan, Orumieh and Zanjan in 2003-2004. Also 18 short duration and medium duration along with local check and international check in two replications were conducted in Maragheh and Kermanshah respectively. The experiments were sown late by 20 days in comparison to normal sowing date. The results of pool analysis showed that 29 and 14 lines had significant difference at 1%, 5% level of probability over susceptible check for yield respectively. ILC 1799 was superior than other lines for high yielding, growth vigor, large seed size and early maturity. None of short duration lines produced significant higher yield than check in Maragheh. But 9 lines had higher yield than check. KAK2 produced significant higher yield at 5% level of probability over local check Bivanij)in Kermanshah.
