Complemental study on the efficacy of Bacillus thuringiensis strains on the grap berry moth (Lobesia botrana)

Grape berry moth (Lobesia botrana Den. and Schiff.) is a very important pest of grapevine. Regarding the necessity of implementation of integrated pest management (IPM) in the vineyards, the efficacy of application of B.t instead of synthetic insecticides was studied in 2003. The experiment was carried out in a complete randomized block design with five treatments. Diazinon (a chemical insecticide) and water were used as checks. three microbial insecticides, Rapax, Lepinox and B.t (product of Iran) each at a rate of 0.15 percent were tested. Sampling and counting of larvae were done a day before and 1, 3, 7 and 10 days after treatment. Results indicated that efficacy of Diazinon with 65.11%, B.T. whit 57.16%, Rapax whit 50.12% and Lepinox whit 49.09% mortality respectively that B.t compounds can be used successfully in IPM programs against grape berry moth in the vineyards.
