El Proyecto Interfruta 2 es un proyecto financiado por el programa Interreg 3-B, desarrollado en las islas de Madeira, Tenerife (Canarias) y Terceira (Azores), destinado a contribuir a la promoción de la fruticultura y la viticultura en estas tres regiones insulares, aplicando técnicas que contribuyan al conocimiento y búsqueda de soluciones, desde el punto de vista de prospección de plagas clave, fauna auxiliar y enfermedades que afectan a esos cultivos. Para la identificación de plagas claves de cada cultivo fue empleada la observación visual y monitorización a través de trampas con feromona sexual y placas cromotrópicas. Para los estudios sobre fauna auxiliar se empleó la recogida directa y las trampas Malaise. En el caso de los hongos se realizó una observación visual para localización de síntomas y recogida de muestras para la posterior identificación en laboratorio. En la prospección de virus y fitoplasmas se usaron técnicas moleculares. Después de la identificación de las plagas clave, la investigación se centró sobre las más importantes. En el caso de la mosca del Mediterráneo (Ceratitis capitata Wied.), usando SIG se instaló una red de mosqueros en toda la isla. En la platanera la investigación se centró sobre el picudo negro (Cosmopolitus sordidus Germar) y en los trips. En los castañeros se realizó la monitorización de (Cydia splendana Hubner), bichado de la castaña, usando trampas con feromona sexual y se cuantificó los daños causados en los frutos. En los manzaneros los principales problemas son la araña roja (Panonychus ulmi Koch), traza oriental (Cydia molesta Busck), bichado (Cydia pomonella L.), pulgones y trips. Los resultados obtenidos han permitido elaborar una base de datos fitosanitarios de diagnóstico de la Macaronesia (PROFITOMAC) que se encuentra disponible on-line en www.interfruta.net. En este trabajo se presentan los resultados obtenidos en los estudios realizados sobre plagas y fauna auxiliar.

The INTERFRUTA project is financed by the European Commission Interreg 3-B Programme and was developed for the islands of Madeira, Tenerife and Terceira for the improvement of fruit and vineyard production in these three Atlantic regions. The project goal is a better knowledge of the phytossanitary problems that affect apples, bananas, chestnut and vineyards, applying methods that will contribute to solutions based on the survey of key pests, diseases and beneficial organisms. Among he phytossanitary problems present in the three fruit crops and vineyards the most important key pests were identified and analyzed it's evolution using mainly direct observation of predefined parts of each plants and sexual and food attractants in specific traps and cromotropic glue traps. For the beneficial organism survey techniques such as Beating and Malaise trap were implemented. After identify the key pest on each culture all the work was centred on those. Fruit fly (C. capitata Wied.) adults were monitored using traps with sexual lures and food attractants in a net of traps around the island of Terceira up to 200 meters altitude built using GIS. In banana plantations the most damaging pests were banana weevil (Cosmopolitus sordidus Germar) and thrips. In chestnut the pest that causes the most severe damage is Chestnut tortrix (Cydia splendana Hubner) and because of that and with the goal of knowing the periods of it's presence in the orchards we monitored the adults using traps with sexual lure. In apple orchards the most important problems were red mites (Panonychus ulmi Koch), oriental fruit moth (Cydia molesta Busck), codling moth (Cydia pomonella L.), aphids and thrips. With the information collected it was possible to create a phytosanitary diagnostic database for the Macaronesian islands (PROFITOMAC) that is on-line at www.intefruta.net. In these article are only presented the results obtained from the survey studies made concerning pests and beneficial insects.
