Evaluation and comparison of industrial, reconstructed and traditional sheep housing on productive traits in village management system of Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province

This study was conducted to compare the effects of industrial, reconstructed and traditional sheep housing for different characteristics of building (construction Index), healthy, ventilation and etc. on sheep productively traits in village management system. 13 flocks selected randomly with more than 100 ewes per flocks: three, six and four flocks were study in traditional, reconstructed and industrial sheep housing respectively. These were in different climates, thus, eight flocks in Shahrecord, three in Kohrang and two in Lordegan climate. The data were obtained about construction and equipment of sheep house, number and education level of manager and shepherd, health, costs and prices, size and combination flocks, reproduction, wool, feedstuff and feeding. For classification of data used of excel program and used of SAS package for statistical analysis. The results of this study showed that the total mean of surface close area was 2.05 m2/head. The mean of closed sheep housing in traditional sheep housing was 0.94 m2/head (smallest), reconstructed and industrial sheep housing were 3.51 and 3.71 m2/head respectively (largest). Differences between traditional and other groups were significant (P0.05). The least of yard (open) area was in traditional sheep housing (0.73 m2/head), reconstructed sheep housing and industrial sheep housing were 3.36 and 5.13 m2/head respectively. The mean of length, height and depth of feeding troughs and feeds storage in industrial housing were higher than other housing system (P0.05). The mean of windows and doors per animal in traditional sheep housing were lower than others (P0.05). The mean education level of flocks manager had been low, social manager of traditional sheep housing was lower than industrial sheep housing (P0.05). In total flocks, only 84.6 % have been spraying, 92.3 % had vaccination and 53.8 % used of drug anti-worm. Industrial US sheep housing had higher cost for building and least cost for repair. Population of sheep in industrial and reconstructed sheep housing were more than traditional sheep housing. Lambing of industrial sheep housing were higher than traditional sheep housing (P0.05). Variety of feedstuff (forage and grain), which used for ration in industrial and reconstructed sheep housing was higher than traditional sheep housing. In conclusion this experiment showed that for razing of sheep in industrial sheep housing was first, the second was reconstructed and these were better than traditional sheep housing.
