Immunohistochemical observations on components of the reticular groove intramural nervous system in suckling lamb

The aim of this study was to investigate the presence and distribution of nitric oxide synthase (NOS) and substance P neuropeptide (SP) in the intramural nervous structures of the reticular groove in the suckling lamb. Tissue sections were stained by immunohistochemical methods. NOS and SP-immunoreactive nerve cell bodies and fibers were found in the entire extent of the reticular groove. Nitrergic neurons and fibers were more numerous in the ventral part of the reticular groove, in particular in its floor. SP-immunoreactive nerve fibers and cells, on the contrary, were more concentrated in the lips of the reticular groove

[Lo scopo di questa ricerca consisteva nello studio della presenza e della distribuzione della ossido nitrico sintasi (NOS) e della sostanza P (SP) nelle strutture nervose intramurali del solco reticolare nell'agnello lattante. Le sezioni di tessuto sono state colorate mediante metodi immunoistochimici. Sono stati osservati corpi cellulari e fibre nervose immunoreattive a NOS e SP per tutta l'estensione del solco reticolare. I neuroni e le fibre nitrergiche erano più numerosi nella parte ventrale del solco reticolare, in particolare sul fondo dello stesso. Al contrario, le fibre e le cellule nervose immunoreattive a SP erano maggiormente concentrate nelle labbra del solco reticolare.]
