Efficacy of Shemer (Metschnikovia fructicola) against post-harvest rot of small fruits [Trentino]

anglais. Red currant, highbush blueberry and raspberry were treated with the yeast Metschnikowia fructicola (Shemer) in order to evaluate its efficacy against post-harvest rot. Experimental trials were carried out on berries treated in pre- or post-harvest and artificially inoculated with Botrytis cinerea. Harvested fruits were stored for 10 days at 1 deg C and thereafter at 25 deg C or constantly kept at 25 deg C. Shemer application in pre-harvest allows a good control of grey mould on red currant and raspberry. In post-harvest treatments it guarantees the control of pathogens only on raspberry, but not on red currant. Shemer on blueberry causes a partial pathogen control, but infection is not significantly different between treated and untreated berries both in field and laboratory trials. It can also control other minor fruit rots (especially against Penicillium sp.)

E' stata valutata l'efficacia di un prodotto a base di lievito Metschnikowia fructicola (Shemer) nei confronti di marciumi dei frutti di ribes rosso, mirtillo gigante americano e lampone durante la conservazione. Le prove sperimentali sono state effettuate su frutti trattati prima o dopo la raccolta e inoculati sperimentalmente con Botrytis cinerea. Sui frutti raccolti è stata valutata anche l'efficacia nei confronti di altri agenti di marciume. I frutti sono stati conservati per 10 giorni a 1 grado C poi posti a 25 gradi C, oppure mantenuti costantemente a 25 gradi C. L'utilizzo di Shemer ha permesso un contenimento dell'incidenza di botrite adeguato su ribes e lampone in campo. Garantisce un buon controllo in post-raccolta solo su lampone, mentre non risulta efficace su ribes. Su mirtillo, Shemer determina un parziale controllo dei patogeni, ma la riduzione dell'infezione non è statisticamente significativa, sia nelle prove di campo, sia di laboratorio. Il lievito garantisce protezione anche nei confronti di altri marciumi minori dei frutti (Penicillium sp. in particolare)
