Application of economic and social quantitative indicators in the measurements of regional development and policy

Abstract regional development, including the challenge of equal territorial development, has come to the forefront within the context of modern spatial processes determined by the global economy. Some places concentrate the capital and human resources, while other places are depleted. New possibilities of researches are sought, which outlines also the need for regional development and policy measurement. The present research is devoted to regional development and policy measurement problem. The author has analyzed indicators such as changes of resident population (in pro mile) 2006/2005, the total floor space of commissioned residential buildings, tax revenue 2004 per capita in lats. Measuring of the effectiveness of regional policy is based on the EU Structural Funds activities in Latvia. The author has analyzed accepted projects in the State Regional Development Agency that administrates a grant scheme of the European Regional Development Fund - 'Support to investment in business development in specially supported territories” and EU Structural Funds projects administrated by the Latvian Investment and Development Agency.

Šā darba uzdevums bija veikt kvantitatīva reģionālās attīstības līmeņa un reģionālās attīstības līmeņa un reģionālās politikas mērīšanu, kā indikatorus izmantojot iedzīvotāju skaita izmaiņas, jaunuzcelto dzīvojamo māju platību, pašvaldību nodokļu ieņēmumus uz vienu iedzīvotāju un Eiropas Savienības (ES) uzņēmējdarbības atbalsta struktūrfondu sadalījumu pa Latvijas administratīvi teritoriālajām vienībām.
