In Lithuania, the biochemical markers were used to evaluate the intra-specific genetic variability of several poultry species. The genetic differentiation, genetic similarity and genetic differences were defined for the Japanese quail breeds (Tubelytė et al. 2000), the chicken cross Lohman White (Sruoga et al., 2002; Butkauskas et al., 2004) and the turkey crosses and hybrids (Juodka et al., 2003). Though, no data about the use of biochemical markers for evaluating the inter-specific genetic differences of domestic species, especially in the order Galliformes, are available. The aim of the present research was to evaluate the genetic variability, genetic similarity and genetic distances among three poultry species – the guinea-fowl, the chicken and the turkey on the basis of genetically determined blood serum protein allele frequencies.
