The objective of studies was to determine difference in species composition of soil seed bank on fields eliminated from agricultural production according to time of their fallowing in comparison with neighbouring fields under cultivation. Varying time of following was the factor of experiment: - one year's and two year's fallow on light soil - three and four years', fallow on alluvial sandy soil, - seven and eight years' fallow on heavy alluvial soil. Number and species composition of weed seeds in plough layer (0-20 cm) were determined applying a direct method modyfied by Pawlowski. Soil material was sampled in 10 replications on the turn September and October. Seed bank of examined two years' fallow has the highest number of seeds (267500 no/square m) and it was by 15 percent higher in comparison with field under cultivation
