The effect of sowing rate on stand architecture and yielding of two spring wheat cultivars

The aim of this work was determination of a character variability of stand structure and yielding of spring wheat under influence of different sowing rates. The strict field experiment was carried out according to the split-plot method in 2003 and 2004. Wheat cultivars were the first order factors, the sowing rate - the second. Obtained results showed that Zura cultivar featured significantly higher by 6 percent yielding than Napola due to higher number of spikes per an area unit. The highest level of cultivars yielding was obtained at low sowing rates 300 and 400 seeds per square m, which involved high number and weight of seeds in a spike
